mock exam Q1 rewite

How do the representations in Figure 1 position the audience to desire the Patek Phillipe watch?

Representations in Figure 1 position the audience to desire the Patek Phillipe watch through media language and persuasive techniques. The slogan creates an emotive appeal to the product that its not just for us but also for generations to come. Creates a want through the legacy appeal. In addition the father and son working together makes an appeal because through the use of imagery the consumers sympathise and may even admire to be like that and so are driven towards the product. this persuasive technique allows for the audience to connect with the idea of family which attracts them to the product. the audience is positioned in the view of the mother who is the missing figure which suggests she is watching her family. the fact that its only father and son reflects the slogan. The fact that its on the sea sets the mood of calmness and something that a father would do with his family so this creates relatedness and draws the audience in. The life jacket that the boy is wearing represents the that father is his sons safety. They are tying rope which is an example of safety and links to Barthes theory of semiotics that the watch is important for your Childs safety. the watch is positioned in the center to show significance. This encourages everyone to buy the product whether they are female or male as the women may get it for her husband and the man for his son.

Star Wars: The rise of skywalker trailer analysis

Who is the target audience?
Children and adults
How do you know?
Because there is an epic story line that would interest adults and children. and also it has a lot of effects that children love. products are aimed to children such as the light saber. Also the age rating is 12 so....
How does the trailer build pace?
Calmness at the beginning. its building up to a dramatic scene and Rey is just awesome and we see her do an awesome force move and from that the pace speeds up with lots of dramatic nostalgic music and has quick cuts with different amazing scenes because star wars is lit.
How does the trailer use editing, sound and mise en scene to build a mood?
The editing is slow in the beginning in the first scene so we can see the build up. its not fast paced at all, just the scene with wide shots and a close up which sets up a calm move and how Rey needs focus and we need to pay attention to her. the sound is also very limited and quiet because again we need focus and concentration, not to get all riled up. the sound gets very like a boom when rey does her back flip and also its in slow motion and doesn't complete it which sets the mood for suspense. The place that Rey is on is most likely her home (jakoo) and she is alone which demonstrates she is alone again  this mission. we want to carry on watching.  the rest of the trailer is fast paced with quick  to get a obliterating happy feeling. the sound is also upbeat which demonstrates action to come and violence.
What does the choice of font suggest about the trailer?
iconic star wars font which shows that the trailer is star wars. it s familiar to the star wars universe. its big bold and colorful demonstrating the epicness to the trailer as well a s the movie
