Intertextuality

Intertextuality is when a text's meaning (story, book, article, song, video, movie) is influenced by another next, intertextual refreneces can be subtle or obvious. the key ides is that these intertextual references allow for a deeper understanding of the text. intertextual feeling can also be looking at patterns or events across stories, or looking at how authors have chosen to convey ideas about the same topic in different ways.

Eg.
This is a copy from clueless with Iggy Azaleas music video 'Fancy'. In this remake the cinema-photography is very similar with the shots and angle being very similar. Editing is also the same. In mise on scene we can observe very similar reference to the background/clothes/props which demonstrates she is trying to copy it.

Fans of clueless will now become fan of iggy azalea

This is from Mean girls and Thank u, next by Ariana Grande. It is a remake but at the same time i can see the angles they were shot are different. The backround is is similar but the writing has changed to Thank u, next further portraying the title and differentiation. Ther lighting is different because the music video has blue lighting. as for costumes, very similar, but different material. Fans of these movies will now watch the video (which gets views and money), and perhaps become fans

one of these may not have been a music video but it is a parody video and these are the posters. its almost exactly identical. its copies the lighting, costumes and positions
This will bring start wars fans to these episodes making them money and potential flowers. they have taken popular movies and turned it into something exactly the same but in cartoon and funnier which would aspire to some fans
